05Business systems · built to order

Data, integration and automation.

Systems that talk to each other, work that moves by itself, and numbers you can trust.

Data platforms, business intelligence, analytics and decision systems, integration platforms, APIs and business process automation, built to order so information entered once flows everywhere it is needed.

Fig. 00Systems that fit together

Most companies do not lack systems. They lack the connections between them. The same order is typed into three screens, a report takes a week because the data has to be gathered by hand, and two dashboards give two answers to one question.

This family is the plumbing and the instruments: moving data between systems, automating the steps people repeat, and turning what the systems hold into numbers a decision can rest on. It is also the foundation any serious use of AI stands on.

05.1BI

Business intelligence.

Business intelligence turns what a company's systems record into charts and figures its people can read and act on.

The usual state of reporting is a person. Someone exports from four systems on the first of the month, stitches the files together and emails a spreadsheet, and when that person is on holiday the company flies blind.

What we build

  • Business dashboards
  • Data visualisation
  • KPI monitoring
  • Reporting
  • Operational analytics
  • Predictive analytics
  • AI-powered business intelligence

05.2Data platforms

Enterprise data platforms.

A data platform is the place where data from every system in a company is collected, cleaned and kept ready for reporting, analysis and AI.

Each business system is built to run its own process, not to be asked questions across the company. Query them directly and you slow them down and get five formats of the same fact.

What we build

  • Data warehouses
  • Data lakes
  • Data lakehouses
  • ETL and ELT pipelines
  • Data engineering
  • Master data management
  • Data governance
  • Enterprise search

05.3Analytics & decision systems

Data analytics and decision systems.

Analytics explains what happened and estimates what will; a decision system puts that estimate in front of the person deciding, at the moment they decide.

A dashboard tells you sales fell. It does not tell you why, whether it will continue or what to do about it. Many companies stop at the dashboard and call it being data-driven.

What we build

  • Advanced analytics
  • Operational analytics
  • Customer analytics
  • Sales analytics
  • Financial analytics
  • Predictive analytics
  • Forecasting
  • Decision support systems

05.4iPaaS

Integration platform as a service.

An integration platform is the switchboard between a company's systems: it carries data from each one to the others that need it.

Systems connected one pair at a time become a tangle. Ten systems can need forty-five separate links, each written differently by someone who has since left, and when one system is upgraded nobody knows what will break.

What we build

  • Application integration
  • API integration
  • Data synchronisation
  • Workflow automation
  • System-to-system integration
  • Enterprise integration
  • Custom connectors

05.5API & systems integration

API and systems integration.

An API is the doorway through which one piece of software asks another for something; systems integration is building and connecting those doorways.

A system with no interface is an island. Its data can be reached only through its own screens, which means a person copying and pasting, or a fragile script reading the screen on their behalf.

What we build

  • API development
  • Third-party integrations
  • Legacy system integration
  • Database integration
  • SaaS integration
  • Enterprise system integration
  • Custom middleware

05.6BPA

Business process automation.

Business process automation hands the repetitive steps of office work to software, so people do the parts that need a person.

A large share of office work is moving information from one place to another: reading a form and typing it into a system, forwarding a request for approval, chasing the person who has not replied, copying figures from an email into a spreadsheet.

What we build

  • Workflow automation
  • Approval automation
  • Document automation
  • Data entry automation
  • Cross-department automation
  • AI-powered process automation
  • Custom business automation

Questions

Where should we start: integration, a data platform or dashboards?

With the question the business cannot answer or the step it repeats most. If people are retyping data, start with integration. If nobody trusts the numbers, start with the data model behind them. Dashboards built before that are only a prettier view of the disagreement.

Do we have to move everything to the cloud?

No. A data platform can run on your own servers, in a private cloud or in a public cloud account you own. The right answer depends on your data, your rules and your costs, and we will say which we would choose and why.

Our data is messy. Is that a problem?

It is the normal starting point, and cleaning it is part of the work. We measure the mess first: duplicates, gaps and conflicts, so the plan is based on what is there.

Tell us about your data & integration systems.

What you have, what it fails to do and what it must connect to. A person reads it and replies honestly.
