Product configuration
The rules of your product, written once: what requires what, what excludes what, which sizes, materials and options are valid together. A configuration that cannot be made cannot be quoted.
01Customers & revenue · CPQ
CPQ software turns a customer's requirement into a correct, priced, approved quote, without a specialist having to check every line.
We build it to order, around the way you work, or extend and connect the one you already have.
01What it is
When products have options, and options have rules, quoting becomes a job for the two people who know all the rules. Quotes queue behind them. A quote that goes out wrong is either unbuildable or unprofitable, and the company finds out after the order is signed.
CPQ puts those rules into a system: which options go together, what each combination costs, what discount each person may give, and who has to approve the exceptions. The salesperson answers questions; the system produces a quote that can be built and that makes money.
02What it includes
01
The rules of your product, written once: what requires what, what excludes what, which sizes, materials and options are valid together. A configuration that cannot be made cannot be quoted.
02
List prices, customer-specific prices, volume breaks, regional price lists, currency and tax, cost-plus rules and margin floors, applied the same way every time and dated, so last year's quote can still be explained.
03
A finished document in your format, with the right terms, drawings and data sheets attached, produced in the time it takes to answer the configuration questions. Revisions are versioned, not overwritten.
04
Discounts past a limit, non-standard terms and low-margin deals go to the right person with the facts attached. The approver sees why it was sent to them and answers in one step.
05
Contract pricing, tiered and bundled offers, subscriptions with usage, multi-year agreements and framework deals across subsidiaries: the cases a price list cannot express.
06
Built to read an incoming enquiry or tender document, pull out what is being asked for, propose the matching configuration and point to similar past quotes. The salesperson checks and sends; the system saves the typing.
Buy, extend or build?
Buy a CPQ product if your catalogue is simple and it plugs into the CRM you already use. Build when the configuration rules are the hard part: engineered products, made-to-order goods, or pricing that depends on live cost and stock from your ERP.
Where intelligence fits
The useful intelligence in quoting is reading: enquiries arrive as emails, drawings and long tender documents, and someone has to turn them into line items. A system can do the first pass and show where each line came from. Pricing itself stays on rules you can audit.
03What it works with
Part of a family
Customers and revenue: One record of every customer, from first click to repeat order.
04How we build it
Listen
You describe the work and where it hurts. We look at the systems and the data you have now.
Specify
A written specification: what the system does, what it does not, what it connects to and how we will know it works. A clear quote before any work starts.
Build in stages
A working piece at each stage, on real data, so you steer early. The part that matters most comes first.
Move the data
Existing records mapped, cleaned of duplicates and reconciled against the old system before anything is switched off.
Hand over
Training, documentation and the keys. Your team can run it, and we keep it working for as long as you want us to.
Customers, products, suppliers, people and stock are each defined once. A second system joins the first; it does not start a competing copy.
Your own servers, a private cloud or a cloud account that belongs to you. Customer, employee and financial data stays on infrastructure you control.
You own the code, the data, the configuration and the documentation. There is no licence fee to us and nothing stopping another team from taking it on.
05Questions
Questions about CPQ
One whose quotes depend on rules: configurable products, long price lists, customer-specific pricing or approval limits. If a new salesperson cannot quote without asking someone, CPQ is worth looking at.
Yes. Live cost, lead time and availability from the ERP make a quote one that operations can actually deliver.
By your own people, in a rule editor written in your terms. You should not need a developer to change a discount limit.
