06AI & transformation · Digital transformation

Enterprise digital transformation.

Digital transformation is replacing paper, spreadsheets and worn-out systems with ones that work together, without stopping the business while you do it.

We build it to order, around the way you work, or extend and connect the one you already have.

01What it is

In plain words.

Digital transformation is replacing paper, spreadsheets and worn-out systems with ones that work together, without stopping the business while you do it.

Few companies set out to have a messy estate. It accumulates: a system bought for one department, another inherited in an acquisition, a database written by someone who left, and paper wherever the systems did not reach.

Transformation is the name for sorting it out. The word is larger than the work needs to be. Done well, it is a sequence of ordinary projects in a sensible order, each of which leaves the company better off even if the next is never started.

02What it includes

Every part, explained.

7 parts. Each can be built by itself; together they are one system.

01

Business process digitisation

Paper forms, signatures, registers and spreadsheet trackers turned into digital flows, with the process simplified first so the waste is not automated along with the work.

02

Legacy modernisation

Old applications re-platformed, refactored or replaced piece by piece, keeping the business rules they contain and removing the risk of running on unsupported technology.

03

Cloud transformation

Moving the right workloads to the cloud, public or private, for the right reasons, with the costs modelled beforehand, and leaving on your own servers what belongs there.

04

Data transformation

Data moved out of silos, cleaned, given common definitions and made available as one dependable source, which everything else in the programme depends on.

05

System consolidation

Several overlapping systems reduced to one: two ERPs after a merger, five customer lists, three ways of raising an invoice. Fewer licences, fewer interfaces, one version of the facts.

06

Enterprise automation

Once the systems are joined, the hand-work between them removed: approvals, data entry, reconciliations and reporting running by rule.

07

AI transformation

Intelligence added where the digitised processes and cleaned data now make it possible, with the same staged, measured approach.

Buy, extend or build?

Large consultancies run transformation as a multi-year programme, which suits some organisations. Choose an engineering-led approach when you want working software at each stage, a clear price for each stage before it starts, and the freedom to stop after any of them with something of value in hand.

Where intelligence fits

AI comes last in a transformation for a reason: it depends on processes that are digital and data that is clean. Companies that start with AI discover this the expensive way. We sequence the work so each stage prepares the ground for the next.

04How we build it

Five steps, in the open.

  1. 01

    Listen

You describe the work and where it hurts. We look at the systems and the data you have now.

  2. 02

    Specify

A written specification: what the system does, what it does not, what it connects to and how we will know it works. A clear quote before any work starts.

  3. 03

    Build in stages

A working piece at each stage, on real data, so you steer early. The part that matters most comes first.

  4. 04

    Move the data

Existing records mapped, cleaned of duplicates and reconciled against the old system before anything is switched off.

  5. 05

    Hand over

Training, documentation and the keys. Your team can run it, and we keep it working for as long as you want us to.

One set of records underneath

Customers, products, suppliers, people and stock are each defined once. A second system joins the first; it does not start a competing copy.

Runs where you decide

Your own servers, a private cloud or a cloud account that belongs to you. Customer, employee and financial data stays on infrastructure you control.

Yours to keep

You own the code, the data, the configuration and the documentation. There is no licence fee to us and nothing stopping another team from taking it on.

05Questions

Before you ask.

Questions about digital transformation

Where does digital transformation start?

With a map of what exists, including systems, data, processes and their cost, and one or two changes that would matter most. The first project should be small enough to finish and visible enough to earn the next.

How do you modernise a legacy system without disrupting the business?

Gradually. A new interface is placed in front, functions are moved behind it one at a time, old and new run in parallel and are reconciled, and the old system is retired only when nothing depends on it.

Should everything move to the cloud?

No. Some workloads are cheaper, safer or legally required to stay on infrastructure you control. The decision is made workload by workload, with the costs in front of you.

How is this different from buying a new ERP?

A new ERP is one possible project within a transformation, and often not the first. Many companies gain more from cleaning their data and joining the systems they have.
