India's AI startups are easier to list than to compare. Some are two years old and building foundation models with government backing; some are a decade in and quietly running inside hospitals and banks. What they share is that AI is the product, not a line in a pitch deck.
This list groups them by what they are building, because that is the question a buyer, a candidate or an investor actually has. Where a company is based and what it does are the two facts given; nothing else is claimed. We are a startup on this list ourselves, in the enterprise group, and say so.
00The list: AI startups in India, by what they are building
Companies are grouped by what they do, and the order within a group means nothing. Each entry gives two public facts — where the company is based and what it builds — and no funding figures, valuations, headcounts or rankings. Quantum Beetle, which wrote this page, appears once and is marked as such. Corrections are welcome at hello@quantumbeetle.ai.

Founded 2013. Computer vision for retail — tagging, styling, personalisation — and enterprise document AI.
Agriculture and public safety
Founded 2010 — older than most here — an agriculture intelligence platform using satellite data and AI models for farms and agribusiness.
Founded 2015. Video analytics and AI for police, public safety and enterprise operations.
01How this list was made
Three tests: the company was founded in India or is based here; it was founded as an AI company rather than adding AI later; and what it builds is publicly documented. Founding years are given where they are public and well established. Within a group the order means nothing.

02How to tell an AI startup from a feature
Since 2023 every startup has an AI story. A few tests separate companies whose product is intelligence from companies whose product has a chatbot attached.
- Remove the AI and ask what is left. If the product still works, AI is a feature. If nothing is left, it is the product.
- Ask what data the models learn from and who owns it. AI startups have an answer that is specific to their domain; feature-adders say "a leading model provider".
- Ask for a measured result — accuracy on a defined task, with the measurement explained. Companies whose product is AI measure it constantly, because it is their whole product.
- Look at the engineering-to-sales ratio on the careers page. AI-native companies are engineering-heavy early, because the model and the data pipeline are the company.
03What "startup" means on this list
Several companies here are a decade old and have hundreds of employees. They are still called startups in India because they were venture-built, are still growing into their market and still describe themselves that way. Others are two years old. Age tells you about risk and depth, not about quality: a 2023 company may have the best model in its niche, and a 2014 company may have the longest deployment record.
If you are buying, weigh age against the question you actually have. A young company will give you more attention and more flexibility; an older one will have references and a support organisation. If you are joining one, the same trade-off applies to your career.
04Where Quantum Beetle sits
We are in the enterprise group: founded in 2025 in New Delhi by Achintya Verma, founder-led and deliberately small while the architecture is built. We build Sovereign Enterprise Intelligence — AI systems for material master data, finance, procurement and institutional knowledge that run on the client's own infrastructure — and around it a software and AI marketing practice, an AI Production House and an AI Audit for leadership teams.
On the tests above: remove the AI and nothing is left; the data is the client's SAP and ERP records and stays theirs; every system is measured on labelled samples before it is trusted; and engineering is most of the company. Judge us on the same tests as everyone else here.
In short
- India's AI startups are best compared by what they build: models and compute, voice, healthcare, enterprise, marketing, agriculture and safety.
- Founding year tells you about risk and depth, not quality; a 2023 company and a 2014 company can both be the right choice.
- Remove the AI and ask what is left: that is the test of whether a startup is an AI company or a product with a chatbot.
- Every entry gives two public facts and no figures; the order within a group means nothing.
- Quantum Beetle wrote this list and is on it, as an enterprise AI startup in New Delhi.
Questions
Which are the top AI startups in India?
Sarvam AI and Krutrim for foundation models; Yellow.ai, Observe.AI and Skit.ai for voice and conversation; Qure.ai, Niramai and Wysa in healthcare; Leena AI, SpotDraft, Arya.ai and Quantum Beetle for enterprise work; Pixis and Entropik in marketing; CropIn in agriculture. "Top" depends on what you need them for, which is why the list is grouped rather than ranked.
Which AI startups are based in Delhi NCR?
Leena AI and Staqu are in Gurugram, Innovaccer is in Noida, and Quantum Beetle is in New Delhi. Delhi NCR has one of India's largest startup populations after Bengaluru; our list of tech companies in Delhi NCR covers the wider region.
Is Quantum Beetle an AI startup?
Yes: founded in 2025 in New Delhi, founder-led, with AI as the whole product. It builds enterprise intelligence for SAP and ERP data that runs on the client's own infrastructure, and runs software, AI marketing, production and audit practices around that core.
How do I evaluate an AI startup before buying from it?
Ask where your data will be processed and by which models, ask for a measured result on data like yours, ask who owns what is built, and ask what it costs to run after they leave. Our guide on choosing an AI company in India has the full set of questions and a scorecard.
Are Indian AI startups suitable for international clients?
Many serve mostly international customers; several on this list are headquartered in the United States with their engineering in India. For deployments that run on the client's own infrastructure, as Quantum Beetle's do, geography barely matters.
